Lalbaug sarvajanik utsav mandal was established in 1928 by the local devotees of lalbaug to support the
                      Ganeshotsav movement led by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar tilak.This movement celebrated as a public festival --
                      ( 'Sarvajanik Ganshotsav') by the efforts of Bal Gangagadhar Tilak.He had intended it to be used as a rallying force
                      to unite people against the colonial powers.Lokmanya Tilak had called for public celebrations of Ganesh chaturthi 
                      primarily to foster a sense of unity and community in the Hindus and secondly to make the public gathering of --
                      people possible esp. freedom fighters, since the British had banned political assemblies. From there it grew in 
                      popularity becoming one of Maharashtra 's most prominent festivals. It is only in the last two decades or so that
                      its popularity as a public festival has spread to other parts of India .

                                 The main intention  behind the mandal is, to spread the Ganeshbhakti and a sense of unity and commu-
                      nity in not only the hindus but also in other communities of this city , as devotees  from all religions and comm-
                      unities of mumbai took part in the ganeshgallis ganesh festival. 
                                 As no written records are there who has established  & developed the mandal , but their contribution will
                      be remembered by the devotees till the date.

 
                                 Till today, mandal contributed in various charity funds like Bihar Flood Relief Fund in 1959, National Def-
                      ence Fund in 1962 and 1965 war.,Orissa flood relief fund and Latur earthquake victims relief fund.Mandal also 
                      contributed sum of Rs.50,000 to Kargil soldiers charity fund during 2001 indo-pak war.

                                  Blood donation camps,health camps,eye care & full body checkup camps are some of the examples of
                      mandals social commitment towards the society. 
                                  Every year "Ganeshgalli ganesh utsav mandal" also organised "Free Health camps" for local residents of
                      ganeshgalli and lalbaugh.In this camps peoples can take advantage of various free tests, consultations for E.N.T
                      problems,full body check up and other related medical services from trained medical doctors and consultants from
                      various medical faculties.
